Dear Parents and Students
After working in private education for over 20 years, I am pleased and privileged to welcome you into the educational experience and legacy of Sea Change Preparatory!
At Sea Change Prep we share the belief that student preparation for both collegiate and professional success revolves around a regimen of rigorous academics, international travel, self-expression, and real world experience. This culminates in our individualized college selection process for optimal placement for Sea Change students in their postsecondary journeys.
A “sea change” is commonly defined as a fundamental positive transformation—the kind of rich and rapid metamorphosis brought upon by the sea when the term was first used by Shakespeare in the Tempest. The name was chosen for our new school because it fits what we do perfectly—transform each student to empower him or her to achieve their very best in all dimensions of their life.
In the most practical sense, it is essential that all Sea Change students be prepared for success in both the public and private sectors. We find this is best ensured through an inclusive and creative learning environment that pairs a study of emerging technologies and industries with the critical analysis at the heart of classic liberal arts programs. We utilize the Socratic method to unearth the intricacies of both historical trends and modern day politics.
To best prepare for success in an increasingly globalized world, Sea Change Preparatory commits to developing a personalized academic plan for every student to prepare them in all relevant career and collegiate paths. Students find opportunities to apply understandings in all subjects through regular international trips, the seaside location of the campus, the school’s open water swim team and wildlife observation program, critical reflection, classroom debates, and free writing.
Yes, we are finally home by the sea! After 20 years the students and families have left a legacy for us to fulfill. Come find your voice and know that each one of you will leave your own mark on the school’s legacy for all future students and parents. The most important lesson is when someone doubts you in the future you will have a full tool box to answer, “actually, I can.”
I look forward to working with you and your family to ensure your academic and professional success.
Best,
Cheryl Allcock, Head of School
